NRM SACKS TWO MEMBERS

The National Resistance Movement caucus reshuffles its sessional committee members ultimately kicking Dr. Sam Lyomoki and Henry Banyenzaki out as Committee Deputy Chairpersons. Party officials maintain that the decision to kick out the two NRM strong men was in their best interest.
NRM caucus treasurer David Bahati says that after consultation the party leadership and the regional coordinators proposed a new line up. The development comes after the conclusion of the first session of parliament, last month.
Bahati adds that the NRM caucus used different criteria which includes the interest of the members, discipline in terms of their performance, loyalty to the party and regional balance in terms of gender:
However, the decision to kick out Member of Parliament for Rubanda West Henry Banyenzaki as Deputy Chairperson on National Budget Committee has not been greeted with a smile.
Banyenzaki insists that according to the rules of procedure, no organ of parliament has the right to dismiss him:
Workers MP Dr. Sam Lyomoki, who has been vice chairperson of the Social Service Committee, has also been dismissed following his recent threat to hold a demonstration.
A new list of leadership and committee members is out and features MPs who have been performing well according to the NRM including Rose Namayanja, who remains as Defense Committee Chairperson.
The Constitution requires all oversight committees to be chaired by opposition MPs, so NRM Mps do not feature here.
